Our “Community Worship Service” begins at 10:30 am each Sunday morning. “Community Worship” combines elements of both traditional and contemporary worship … services will be blended together to create worship that speaks to everyone.  There will be a wide variety of musical selections, readings and worship leaders.

The word advent means “coming.” It is a time the church sets aside as a season of anticipation, preparation, and reflection. It is a time of waiting… for the celebration of Christmas day. It is a time when, as German theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, we ask ourselves if we are “ready for God?” Are we? What are we doing to get ourselves and our families ready for the arrival of the Christ child? HBC would like to encourage each of us along our journey to Bethlehem this year.
We often talk and sing about the ‘Three Wise Men’ during the Christmas season.  Scripture never mentions how many magi actually came from the East that first Christmas season, but it does talk about three “wise women” who played significant roles.
Our sermon series during December will tell the stories of those women and examine how they are still examples for us today. We will begin our series looking at the faith of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and what it took for her to say yes to God’s call on her life as well as consider how we, too, might say yes to God. In the weeks following the adult choir cantata we will look at the hope of Elizabeth, Mary’s older cousin, and the joy of the prophetess Anna who had waited a long time to see the promised Messiah. Let us together look at the lives of these women and see what they have to show us about making room in our hearts for Jesus and readying ourselves for the coming of God in our lives.
December 1: Mary‘s “Yes”
December 15: Anna–The Longevity of Hope
December 22: Elizabeth–Responding in Joy
COMMUNION: Typically communion is observed the first Sunday of each month.  We celebrate World Communion Day on the first Sunday of October with a worship service with the Kachin Baptist Church.  The first Sunday of June is Youth Sunday and Graduate Recognition Sunday.  Our youth group leads all parts of the worship service and we recognize the high school and college graduates within our congregation.  There are special services during Advent and Lent.  At times we have musical guests and groups to provide special music and once a year we have a Praise Night and Hymn Sing.
