In the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus says a person keeps the commandment to love God and neighbor by ministering to his neighbor. When you read the context in which that parable was first given, you see that Jesus was responding to a question from a teacher of the Law asking about who his neighbor was. Like many of us, he was entangled in the interpretation of the commandment to love God and neighbor rather than focusing on its implementation.
Belief will express itself in ministry. Authentic faith in Jesus will cause us to respond to human hurts and hopes as he did. Such ministry cannot be done from a distance. Operation Inasmuch challenges believers to get "up close and personal" with their involvement in missions.
Saturday, September 27 will be a great day for HBC to serve the Lord by demonstrating His love in our community as we went out into the community to help those in need.
Last year, over 200 people, including church members, college students and friends, took part in about 33 planned projects. Many people were blessed by the different projects including those of us who were "doing the projects."
Every man, woman and child from 2-92 are welcome to participate in our next OIAM. Just sign up on the form below or call the church office at 433-2456 for more information.
Breakfast will be served at HBC between 6:30 & 7:30 a.m. A group photo will be taken at 7:45 a.m. and volunteers will depart to job sites around 8:00 a.m. Transportation to the job sites and materials will be provided. Boxed lunches will be delivered to all job sites between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Come and join us for a fun-filled and blessed day helping others! Some of the projects already lined up are:
